Description
Crocheted Gloves: This pattern contains directions for crocheting the gloves pictured. The hand of these gloves is worked in 2 sections; a front and back section. The crocheting is done in long rows extending from the wrist to the fingertips: the foundation chain forming the side seam. The pieces are joined together with whip stitch worked in a contrasting color. They can be made of light weight yarn or Mercerized crochet and knitting cotton. The directions are given in 3 sizes, large, medium or small size, all included in the one pattern.
This is a Mail Order Design Pattern, purchased through newspapers and magazines. This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2350 in 1939. The brief newspaper description: "These gloves in French Zephyr are easy to crochet. Make some as gifts".
Materials: 2 (1 ounce) balls of yellow French Zephyr (3-ply fingering yarn), a few yards of brown and a No. 5 steel crochet hook; OR 1 ball of Mercerized crochet cotton, a few yards of contrasting color; No. 9 steel crochet hook 2 large buttons.
