Description

Teen Dress:   This pattern gives directions to knit, crochet detail, the dress pictured.   The official 1953 magazine description:  " Sweet as spun sugar, a one piece dress with the look of separates. The short sleeved top has a Peter Pan collar, is marked by bars to match the candy-striped skirt. The fit is achieved by neck and side zippers, a firmly elasticized waist "   Directions for size 12. Changes for size 14 are in parentheses.  

Materials:  Columbia or Minerva Fingering Yarn, 14 (16) 1-oz. balls Lt. Blue. main color (MC) ; 3 balls each of 2 contrasting colors, Med. Blue (A) and Red (B);  "Boye" 29" circular needle No. 3;  straight 14" knitting needles No. 3. (Or English size 10.);   "Boye" steel crochet hook No. 4;   10" slide fastener for side placket, 7" for blouse;   1 yd. 1-1/4" grosgrain ribbon;   1 yd. 1/2" elastic.  (Gauge: 8 sts=1"; 11 rnds or rows=1" (stockinette st)
