Filet Crochet Butterfly Set, American Weekly 3558

Pattern No 3558:  This pattern gives directions to create the filet crochet chair set pictured.  Here we have a large butterfly motif with a spray of roses and plenty of mesh.  The chair back will measure 12-1/2 x 15-1/2 inches and the arm rests are 6-1/2 x 12-1/2 inches each.  Full page charts are included. 

This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased newspapers and catalogs.   The pattern was marketed as The American Weekly 3558 in 1942.     

Materials:   2 (500 yard) skeins of Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 7 steel crochet hook.  (2 skeins of cotton will make a chair set or 2 scarf ends)
