Dainty Pineapple Doily Pattern, Martha Madison 1144

Dainty Pineapple Doily:  This pattern gives directions to crochet the doily pictured.  This doily has no shells in the pineapple motif, except the edging which is continuous,--the pineapples are not to be finished separately, as in most designs of this nature. It is very easy to crochet this item. 

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Martha Madison 1144 in 1956.  "Beautiful crochet doily in pineapple design is easy to crochet".  This pattern was included in the 1962 Little Catalog of Just Doilies.  

Size / Materials:  If made in #20 Crochet Cotton, with #9 steel crochet-hook and medium tension of worker, the doily will be approximately 15 inches in diameter.   For a smaller, daintier doily use #30 or #40 Cotton and #12 hook.    To make a larger one (centerpiece), use Bedspread Crochet Cotton and #5 hook.
