Crochet Sparkler Afghan Pattern

Sparkler Afghan:   This crochet pattern gives directions to create the pretty afghan pictured.  The design, vintage 1950 from American Thread, is crocheted in diamond star shaped motifs that are joined together with colors burst (thus the name sparkler) in appliqued centers.  The finished afghan will measure 50 x 78 inches. 

Materials:  

• AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED; 43 ounces White, 24 ounces Beige, 2 ounces each Orange, Tangerine, Potter Gold, Amber and Flame or colors of your choice  
• Plastic Crochet Hook Size H OR ANY SIZE HOOK WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW  

GAUGE: 4 sc = 1 inch, 4 rows = 1 inch  

41 motifs and 136 diamond inserts are required for Afghan.
