Crochet Fern Doily, Small Large, Design 629

Crocheted Doilies: These crocheted doilies can either be made of No 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. They can be used as luncheon sets, buffet sets or as odd doilies. The doilies, in a fern motif with scalloped edges can be made in large or small sizes. The large size is 18 or 24 inches and the small doilies are 12 or 16 inches in diameter.

This is a Mail Order Design Pattern, purchased through newspaper advertisements and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 629 in 1958.   It was also marketed under the Alice Brooks brand.

Materials:   No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook;   or unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 8 steel crochet hook.  (The large doily requires approximately 275 yards of fine cotton or 400 yards of heavy cotton. The small doily requires approximately 165 yards of fine cotton or 195 yards of heavy cotton)
