Crochet Baby Top Diaper Cover Pattern No 1000

Crochet Infant's Stretch Suit:  A two-piece stretchy suit to wear over undershirt & diaper; add bootees, and baby is fully dressed -- seems older. Three sizes in the pattern: Small, 6 wks to 6 mo., Medium, 6 mo to 1 yr., Large, 1 yr to 18 mo.

This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Martha Madison 1000.  

Material: About two ounces each of white and a pastel color 3-ply Orion Yarn. It is a bit heavier than Wool Baby Yarn but is soft and warm, nice to work with and comfortable for baby to wear. Use a #3 steel crochet hook and work evenly. Avoid splitting the yarn -- a taut stitch has no elasticity. A 4-inch neck zipper for closing back of shirt at top, and some 1/4-inch elastic for waistband of panties, will also be needed.
