Sunbonnet Girl: This pattern contains directions to create the chair set pictured. This is another rendition of the every popular Sunbonnet Girl, or perhaps Sunbonnet Sue. Here, in filet crocheted chair back, she strolls the rose garden. The arms rests are roses only. Worked in Mercerized Crochet Cotton, the set can be made in two different sizes, as referenced below. The pattern is worked (almost entirely) to included charts.
This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. The pattern was marketed as Needlework Bureau E-1236 in 1946. The newspaper description: "An old fashioned sunbonnet is the central motif of this chairset worked in filet crochet. The pattern is easy to execute and works up quickly. Started now, the set will make a wonderful Christmas gift".
