Description

Sunbonnet Girl: This pattern contains directions to create the chair set pictured. This is another rendition of the every popular Sunbonnet Girl, or perhaps Sunbonnet Sue. Here, in filet crocheted chair back, she strolls the rose garden. The arms rests are roses only. Worked in Mercerized Crochet Cotton, the set can be made in two different sizes, as referenced below.   The pattern is worked (almost entirely) to included charts.

This is a Mail Order pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.   The pattern was marketed as Needlework Bureau E-1236 in 1946.  The pattern was marketed under both the Ellen Bruce and Needlework Bureau brand names

Materials:  For a chair back 15 by 18 inches, and 2 arm pieces 12 by 14 inches, 9 balls (125 yds.) mercerized crochet cotton No. 20; steel crochet hook No. 10 or 11;   For chair back 11 by 15 inches and 2 arm pieces 9 by 12 inches, 7 balls 150 yds.) mercerized crochet cotton No. 30; steel crochet hook No. 11 or 12.
