Tie : This pattern contains directions for knitting both the ties pictured. " The stockinette stitch tie is the ordinary shape tie, made in one piece and sewn down the center back. The fine fabric, especially if knitted in a mist yarn, will give the appearance of woven material. The tie in patterned double knitting can be made in silk. For sport and country wear make it to match his tweeds ". This pattern set is vintage 1942; a time when a knitted tie was not uncommon. Although they may not be heavily in demand now, a knitted tie in team colors would be great fun.
Materials:
- 2 oz. 3-ply wool or silk and wool.
- 1 pr. #2 knitting needles.
- About 1/2 yd. of ribbon for facing.
