Description

Jiffy Knit Jacket : "This knitted jacket can be made either of Knitting Worsted, for a wool jacket, or of four strands of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton for a cotton jacket. It is worked in a very simple rib pattern stitch. The jacket can be made in two sizes - size 12-14 and size 16--18 - both sizes are included in the one pattern.   This easy jacket pattern, worked in stockinette stitch, features long sleeves, is semi fitted, a v-neckline and front button band. Blocking Charts are included.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 583 in 1943.  

Materials:   4 (3-3/4 ounce) skeins of navy blue and about 1/2 ounce of red Knitting Worsted or 6 (500 yard) skeins of skipper blue and about 100 yards of red Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton;   a pair of No. 6 bone (American) or No. 7 bone (English) knitting needles;   a No. 00 steel crochet hook;   6 large buttons.
