No need to long for a rich lace bedspread—make one yourself. It's fun when one like this can be crocheted in easy-to-do squares. All you need is a bit of spare time and some inexpensive string. The graceful leaf design lends itself to the making of a cloth. scarf or pillow as well. It is lovely in finer cotton, too.

Description

Filet Crocheted Squares in Rose & Leaf Motifs:  These two filet designs are to be worked in Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or in fine crochet cotton. They may be combined to form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows; each design may be used alone if desired. The pattern includes a chart of each square also directions describing how the charts are to be used.   Crochet the squares at 10 inches or 6-1/2 inches square.  

This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspaper advertisements.   The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 6044 in 1938. 

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS: Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 7 steel crochet hook or No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (125 yard) balls and a No. 12 steel crochet hook. Each square requires approximately 150 yards of heavy cotton or 92 yards of fine cotton.
