Description

Filet Crochet Square:  These two companion filet squares are to be worked in Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or in fine Crochet Cotton. They may be combined to form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows. The pattern includes a chart of each square.  Create the square in two sizes - 6-1/2 or 10 inches.

This is a Mail Order Designs pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  It was marketed as Laura Wheeler 1726 in 1938.  The newspaper description:  "Crochet these lacy companion squares in odd moments - then combine them into an exquisite cloth or spread. The rythmic design is set off by easy K stitch".

Materials:  Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 7 steel crochet hook or No. 50 Mercerized Crochet Cotton in (125 yard) balls and a No. 12 steel crochet hook. Each square requires approximately 150 yards of heavy cotton or 92 yards of fine cotton.
