Crocheted Tote Bag Pattern

S-970 Tote Bag : This pattern contains instructions to crochet the bag pictured above. This design, vintage 1950s from Coats and Clarks, is called a Carry-All Bag. With the passing of 60 years, the bag is now better known as a Tote Bag. But, regardless of the name, it is quite a functional pieces. This one (although actual size is not stated), appears fairly large, has gussets so the sides will open to hold 'more stuff' and closes at the top with a fold over tab and button. The handle is rather on the short side, however, just keep adding rows to make it the length of your choice.

Materials:

• COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MERCERIZED COTTON, Art.C.44: 7 balls of No. 61-D Nu-Ecru.
• Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2/0 (double zero).
• Buckram and lining; 2 snap fasteners.

GAUGE: 1 shell makes 1 inch; 2 rows 1 ¼ inches.
