Crocheted Square: This crocheted square worked in the pineapple design can be made either of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton. When joined together the squares form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs, pillows and other household articles.
This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7174. "Note the pretty lattice motif formed when you join squares - unique, yet easy to crochet. Pineapples become petals in flower motif. You can crochet a cloth, bedspread, a scarf and smaller articles".
- No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 12 steel crochet hook
- or Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.
- Each square requires approximately 110 yards of fine cotton or 165 yards of heavy cotton.
