Description
Crocheted Square : This crocheted square worked in a combination of petal stitches and picot loops can be made either of No 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton or in heavy cotton. When joined together the squares form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and other articles. Made in heavy cotton the square can be used as a pillow top or as a doily. The square, depending upon materials chosen, will measure either 12 or 16 inches.
This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7417. It was included in the Alice Brooks 1949 pattern catalog.
Materials: No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No,. 10 steel crochet hook or Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook. Each square requires approximately 225 yards of fine cotton or 300 yards of heavy cotton.
