Snowflake Doily No 1: This pattern gives directions to crochet the delicate doily pictured. The finished doily in No 40 Cotton will measure 9 inches in diameter. The pattern description: This doily has been painstakingly copied from a photograph of an actual snowflake. A series of five or six different "snowflake" doilies makes a most unusual and handsome collection. If you are a collector, display your choice doilies on the shelves of your china cupboard. Allow one half the doily to fall over the edge of the shelf. A series of doilies of this type are also lovely when displayed under the glass top on a coffee table. These doilies also make charming lace pieces to use on dessert plates and under clear glass finger bowls.
This is a Mail Order pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs. This pattern was marketed as Anne Cabot 5351 in 1944. The official newspaper description: "Snowflakes for a white Christmas! As lovely as snowflakes drifting past the window in this 6 inch bit of white crocheted loveliness".
