Crocheted Doilies: This pattern contains directions for making a set of two doilies. They can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The doilies can be used as luncheon or buffet sets, or they can be used as odd doilies. Crochet doilies in large or small sizes. The large doilies are 18 or 12 inches; the small doilies are 12 or 9 inches.
This is a Mail Order Design pattern purchased through newspapers and catalogs. The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7490 in 1943. The official newspaper description: "Here's a delightful idea for your next party - doilies - dainty as a spider web - to fittingly set of your china and silver. They can be crocheted in a jiffy by even a beginner! Use them for buffet sets or individual pieces, too".
