Crocheted Medallion:  This crocheted medallion can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. The medallions may be crocheted at 6 or 4 inches, depending upon materials selected.  When joined together, the medallions form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows.

This is a Mail Order Design pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  This pattern was marketed as Laura Wheeler 2724 in 1941.  "Irish Rose is an easy medallion to crochet and one that's sure to delight you with its daintiness when joined into spread, cloth or scarf.  Use string or finer cotton".  


  • Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook 
  • or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.
  • Each medallion requires approximately 34 yards of heavy cotton or 24 yards of fine cotton.  One skein of cotton is required for fringe.
