Crocheted Square:  This crocheted square can be made either of Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton or of No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton. When joined together the squares form bedspreads, cloths, scarfs and pillows.  The square an be crocheted at 10 or 7-1/2 inches.  

This is a Mail Order Designs pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed as Alice Brooks 7064 in 1941.  "A crocheted cloth like this one in the lovely pineapple design will make your dining a delight!  Begin crocheting the simple squares now.  They make a spread or scarf too". 


  • Unbleached Mercerized Crochet and Knitting Cotton in (500 yard) skeins and a No. 8 steel crochet hook, 
  • or No. 30 Mercerized Crochet Cotton and a No. 10 steel crochet hook.
  • Each square requires approximately 100 yards of heavy cotton or 72 yards of fine cotton.
