Description

Ballet Slippers: This pattern gives directions to crochet the slippers pictured. "This Ballet slipper, so soft and easy to wear as house, play or bedroom slipper, has a simple construction which may be worn plain or decorated in many attractive ways. Small, Medium and large. Bows sit front or back, finish with cross stitches or sequins".

This is a Mail Order Design Pattern, purchased through newspapers and catalogs.  The pattern was marketed by Needlework Bureau as No. 1125.  The newspaper description:  "These ballet slippers are so soft and easy to wear as house, play or bedroom slippers. Simple to crochet and decorate as you wish".  The pattern was included in the 1950 Needlework Bureau Pattern Book.  

Materials:   1 ball cotton rug yarn, for a strong sole;   1 - 2 oz. ball heavy 4 ply worsted in a matching or contrasting yarn, for inner sole and upper;   1 No. 00 steel crochet hook;   Decorations Suggested: (1) velvet bows – 1 ½ yd. 2" wide ribbon. cross-stitch, sequins
