Tam O'Shanter : This pattern contains directions to crochet the set shown. Officially named Tam O'Shanter, for the Tam resemblance of the hat, I'm sure. This version of the tam has eight sides, versus the typical rounded look, making it just a bit different. It stands just a bit tall, versus slumped, and has a grosgrain ribbon band where it meets the head. There is a matching eight sided bag, wristlet style, with a zip closure. Line the bag, if desired.
The pattern set is brought to us by The Spool Cotton Company, 1939. The official write-up : "A dashing highlander tam - a whirling disk that will give you that young look and a flat as a pancake bag to match -- a duet of real smartnesss.
