Knit Helmet : This pattern contains directions to knit the hat pictured. For those areas that get really cold, this is the supreme of knitted hats. Called a helmet, this one is a pullover that covers the entire face with just the eyes and upper nose exposed. It then goes under the chin-line and down the neck to tuck in under the jacket. This is an easy to knit, standard one size design. Although just as suitable for women, this pattern comes from the mans section of a 1942 pattern book, which may mean the head sizing is a bit larger.
- 4 oz. knitting worsted.
- 1 set #6 double-pointed needles (Standard).
Gauge: 5 stitches to inch, 6 ½ rows to inch.
