Crocheted Afghan: This pattern gives directions to crochet the afghan shown. The block design is worked in 3 colors of a 4-ply knitting worsted; or use scraps in as many colors as you might desire.
Regular 4-ply Worsted Yarn. Use a #1 steel crochet hook & work evenly so blocks will be 5-inches square. Left-over yarns of this wt. may be utilized in the centers of the blocks but should all new yarn be purchased, you will need two 4-oz skeins of Color #1 (deep variegated colors): three skeins of Color #2 (a pretty green or brown); and six skeins of Color #3 (black).
First color is for 3 central rounds of the block; second for next 3 rounds; and third is the border-color, for 7th round of every block and working the three rounds of Edging around the completed afghan. This is for an afghan of 10 by 14 blocks (abt. 53"x73"). The entire 140 blocks may be made before sewing together (whip-stitch) the matched-sts with some of the same yarn (Color #3). Colors mentioned are only suggestions; make your own selection.
