Fair Isle : This pattern contains directions for knitting the sweater pictured. The design, vintage 1948 from Smart Knitting Magazine is an intermediate knit project using a primary and four contrast colors. The flattering design is a Fair Isle with small v-neckline, long sleeves in solid color and ribbed banding in all the usual placed. The back is solid. The pattern is written for boys size 12, 14 and 16. The difference in size is dictated by the needles used.
- Botany Aquatones Yarn (2-oz. skeins). 4 Skeins Oatmeal (MC) 1 Skein each Brown, Red, Yellow, Green.
- Needles: 1 pr. each No. 1 and No. 3 for size 12. 1 pr. each No. 2 and No. 4 for size 14. 1 pr. each No; 3 and No. 5 for size 16. 1 set of 4 Double point No. 1.
GAUGES: 6 ½ sts=1" on No. 5 needles. 7 sts=1" on No. 4 needles. 7 ½ sts =1" on No. 3 needles
