Bottle Cap Crochet : This pattern contains directions to make the hot plate mats pictured. This vintage design from 1959 calls for bottle caps (metal type from soda and beer. Little covers are crocheted and then placed on the caps. Then, these are joined to form two different designs - a pineapple or a butterfly; chart for butterfly is included. Of course, once you get the cover pattern mastered, you'll be ready to branch out and create designs all your own.

- J.& P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A. 64: 2 balls of No. 19 Shaded Yellows for cap covers; and
- COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MERCERIZED COTTON, Art. C. 44: 1 ball of No. 48 Hunter's Green for leaves.
- Milward. Steel Crochet Hooks No. 2/0 (double zero) for "Speed-Cro-Sheen" or No.7 for "Knit-Cro-Sheen."
- 52 bottle caps.
