Tweed Coat Knitting Pattern


Tweed Coat : This vintage early 1960s, knitting pattern contains instructions to create the marvelous coat shown above. The belted, below knee length, coat is tweed in appearance with long cuffed sleeves, patch pockets, and a rounded peter pan collar. Definitely an attractive and stylish piece. The pattern is sized 12 to 16. Directions are written for size 12, with changes for 14 and 16 shown in parentheses.


  • Pauline Denham Mohair Bouffant, 24 (26-28) 2-oz. skeins color A, Pauline Denham Sierra, 2 1-oz. skeins color B for bindings.
  • 14" knitting needles Nos 2 and 11. (Or English sizes 11 and 2).
  • Four 1 ½" buttons.
  • 4 yards taffeta, 45" wide, for lining.
  • 1 yard Pellon.
  • Sewing thread to match yarn and lining.
  • Belting.
  • Belt buckle.
  • One large snap fastener.
