Chair Sets

Chair Sets came into play in the late 1800's as a way of protecting furniture from dirt and wear. These sets were typically made of fabric and at times adorned with embroidery. In the early 1930's, patterns began to appear for crocheted chair sets. These crochet patterns ranged from basic geometric motifs, to more elaborate flower displays. Many of the filet crocheted chair sets also depicted animal scenes, such as puppies, birds or horses. The ever popular crochet pineapple motif also played a factor in many designs.

These patterns were offered by the major yarn suppliers; the Mail Order Designs have their own category, should you care to look.
