Braided Rag Rug :   This pattern contains instructions to make braided rag rug.   The pattern, issued in the 1940s by The National Needlecraft Bureau is a one page leaflet which detail material selections, braiding and sewing the braids together.  It gives base instructions on how to start round, oval and herringbone effect rugs in general and gives more detailed instructions (including color changes) for a large braided rug that measures about 68 x 77 inches. 

National Needlecraft Bureau Patterns were mail-ordered in the 1940s to early 1960s.   Many of their patterns were from fair winners in their annual contests.
